Many practitioners do not know how to make a convincing business case presentation to senior leaders like the CFO and CEO. Some mistakenly assume that what is important to learning professionals, like instructional design considerations, learning objectives, and competency models, must also (or should) be important to senior leaders. Others simply don’t know what to share with these senior leaders or how to share it. In any case, the result often is that the budget and staffing for the proposed investment in learning is not approved or is significantly scaled down.
