Alexandra Thornton

Alexandra Thornton is the Senior Director of Tax Policy for the Economic Policy team at the Center for American Progress, which she joined in 2014. She writes and speaks on tax, capital markets, and fiscal policy issues, including individual and corporate taxation, wealth taxation, tax administration, corporate governance, climate, and human capital disclosures, and regulation of investment fiduciaries.

Alex also draws from nearly 10 years as tax counsel to a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance; extensive experience in nonprofit management where she focused on international conservation and environmental taxation; and her work as a litigator in private law practice.
